My visit to 103.1 Unilag FM was indeed a huge success to say the least. Contrary to what we were made to believe, getting access to the station was like hot knife through butter and getting the needed information for my assignment was easier. I guess, I am just blessed.

As I stated my mission, I was immediately ushered into the office of the station Editor, who had just taken time off his annual vacation to get something from the office. Mr.Tayo Takura, Editor of repute, with over three decades of experience, has been the editor of Unilag FM since its inception in 2004.
Mr. Takura spoke about the struggle of the founding fathers of the station to get a license, then in 2004 the license was granted, thus making Unilag FM the first campus radio. Mr. Takura also talked about the vision, the mission and the values of the station. When asked how the station is funded to this he said, the University pay workers salary, while bodies like UNESCO, WORLD BANK etc. have been of immense help by supplying equipments for the station.
Speaking on the language used, He said, though it is a community Radio, it serves a homogenous group, so since the people in the campus are from different parts of the country the language as to be English so it can reach everybody.
"We are all professionals that work he" he stated, "though it is a kind of laboratory for not only Mass Communications students but for engineering student and any other interested student, he concluded.
